When you're 61 years old, you no longer encounter many "firsts" in your life. You're not even often surprised; pretty much, you've been there and done that, gotten the t-shirt.
Well, tonight was an exception. Returning from the Mountaineer Casino, a friend and I stopped for a late dinner at the Mansion. What a terrific experience! Great food (crab cake appetizers followed by rack of lamb for me), fantastic service, and some very nice wine.
Topping it all off, a fun conversation with the owner, a curly-haired former Minerva high school cheerleader who is now an expert on the NBA! She and her staff were lots of fun as we, the last customers in the place, dined and drank in the upstairs bar while watching hoops on the wide-screen tvs.
Good luck to you guys! I know, for one, that I will be back, and will heartily recommend your restaurant to everyone that I know.
